Beth Tweddle - Gymnastics

As a key member of the British National Gymnastics team, Beth Tweddle has represented her home nation on numerous occasions. Highlighted by her results, Beth is considered to be the British team's best gymnast to have emerged onto the world scene.

Beth began gymnastics at the young age of seven, when she started out in her local club in a gymnastics program they were running. From the beginning, gymnastics had always been an activity which Beth enjoyed, but she had never taken it seriously until her training became more intense as her coaches began to recognise the potential she held.

For two years from 1994, Beth maintained her intensive training and held a position in the British junior national team, which lead her into her first British Espoir Championships. From this point forward, Beth built her affiliation with the British team and has represented them on both the European and world scene. Beth managed to work her way up through the medal positions and took the title of champion in her event- the asymmetrical bars- in both the European and World Championships in 2006.

Having represented Great Britain at the Olympics in 2004, Beth now has her sights firmly set on the medal table for the Beijing games in 2008. Keen to encourage more people into gymnastics coaching, Beth is pleased to promote Sports Leaders. Recognising the need for coaches to gain experience, Beth wants to let more people know about the opportunity to work with kids in gymnastics on American summer camps.

"This is such a great chance for people who are enthusiastic about gymnastics to use their passion and qualifications to help kids from across the world share in their spirit for the sport. The counselors' experience and awards gained in their home country will allow them to bring fantastic new ideas and practices to the kids at camp, making gymnastics fun all round! The Camp Leaders program is a really rewarding way for participants to share their skills and experiences" - Beth Tweddle
