Bags are packed, goodbyes are being said...

This blog has come in from one of our excited participants who is about to head out to camp for the first time...

Should I take these extra socks or should I pile in some Tetley Tea bags? Do I take my book about the USA or those cool new shoes I bought last week? Lots of questions; a few answers and a pile of anticipation.

What will my cabin be like? What will the food be like? Who will I spend my time off with? Will the kids be nice? Does Wal-Mart really sell everything? How big is Texas?

Personally, I am going to pack extra socks and try to ensure my bag is light, as I'll be travelling after camp. I will be teaching swimming, and from the look of the camp website the lake looks amazing!

I wonder what we will be doing for the two weeks prior to the campers arriving? I hear we will be doing some staff training and 'work crews'. Hmmm, I wonder who will be on my flight? I spoke to my Camp Director last week and someone is going to meet me at the bus stop, what was it called again? I should check that out.

So, I have my flight itinerary, my passport and the pieces of paper that came back with it. I have printed off my insurance info and I have some dollars to see me through the first week or so, plus I can't forget to call home, mum will be flipping out! I'm not too sure what else I should take, I think I'll find someone who has been before and ask.

I need to get some pictures of my family and dog printed, plus update my iPod so I can introduce the kids and other staff to some good music. I think I might give Camp Leaders a quick call to make sure that I don't forget anything. Oh I need to go see my Nan as well, in fact I am looking forward to a good brew and natter, she has been going wild recently about the guy down the road and his car alarm. Funny!

Anyway, I am excited and I think I am ready, wish me luck, America here I come!
