Nominate me for the Best British Counselor 2009?

Returning to camp lets you catch up with old friends, seize the opportunities that you missed last year and accomplish so much more. Every year is different at camp because the staff group is always changing and the campers do to. This helps keep the place fresh and provides a welcoming community every year.

Last summer's camp experience is still fresh in many of our minds, long summer days and great experiences seem so close.
I clearly remember sitting on the porch of a log cabin, kicking back watching Brian (a fellow counselor) hanging out with some campers. When he first joined the group they had been stressed out with one another. Brian quietly joined in and within minutes they where laughing and fooling around. Brian had hardly said a word and his influence could have been easily missed. Brian led from within and kept the focus on the group, not himself. What a legend. I was thinking about this the other day and came up with the idea of a competition. There must have been many incidents of counselors doing great things over the summer, and there must have been a group of counselors who consistently did great things all summer.
Well, I for one would jump on the opportunity of celebrating good summer camp skills, and so here we have The Best British Counselor 2009 competition.
We will be looking at starting similar searches across the world over the coming weeks.

If you are looking at returning to camp I know that The Bear Team are processing visa and getting people ready to head out to camp again. Andy's Top Tips on returning to camp are

· Get your paperwork in early, avoid the madness later in the season!

· Contact camp directly and get your self a contract.

· Log in to your old profile, scroll down to the bottom of the page and apply for 2010!
