ASA Level 1 Award

The ASA is the governing body for swimming in the UK, and as such, this award is recognised throughout the UK and also across America! During the five day course you'll be taken through every area of swim instructing, which will range from the techniques of each swimming stroke and how to plan out and present a class, to problem solving and the differences of working with children and adults. Once you have completed the course, you'll be ready to set out into the world of swim instructing.

Sports Leaders is able to offer the ASA Swimming Teacher Level 1 for a massively reduced price of just £210! There is then the opportunity to claim back up to £185 of that to bring the course cost even lower! As part of this, we're also able to provide hands-on experience for our newly qualified instructors. Once you've completed the certification course you'll enter into a 10-hour volunteer experience program with local swimming clubs and centres to help you enhance your new skills before travelling to America. This is a fantastic scheme which allows you to learn on the job and gain insight from people who've been teaching swimming for years.

What If I'm Already Qualified?

We've outlined the minimum qualifications required to enter into one of the Sports Leaders programs and also included a brief section of information for anyone thinking about taking up a qualification in their own sport. The standards set are based around the awards given by the governing bodies for each sport, but should you feel that an award you hold is equivalent to those listed then please contact Sports Leaders.

Also included is a link to the governing body website for each sport, which will allow non-qualified participants to find out more information about the awards available. Although Sports Leaders aren't currently able to provide training in each of the sports highlighted, we encourage everyone taking part in their favoured sport to follow through with a coaching qualification. It's a great way to develop your experience and knowledge in a sport you're involved in and gives you the opportunity to take on a totally new role.
