Remember when the best kind of day was one that included a special trip to the ice cream parlour? Well, for us, nothing has changed, we're still big kids at heart and there's nothing we love more than ice cream, incorporated into breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes. If this sounds like you (high five) as we're here to share our inside scoop on the very best ice creameries in the USA, as selected by our Camp Leaders Crew.

We've been waffling on about the cones, frolicking around our favourite flavours and now we're here to tell you where you need to take your epic road trip this summer East to West Coast and each creamy connoisseur in between. We wish we could create an app, just to pin them on there for you, but nevermind, take this guide under your wing, it’s time for you to lick your way around the USA.

Enjoy the traditional classics but we challenge you to relish in some of the most unique combinations that are about to come your way. Man vs Food style, share the foodie adventure with us.

Kicking off with our absolute favourite, and yes we Instagram this place a lot (and will continue to do so for years to come) is Sweet Rose Ice Creamery, Santa Monica.

Sweet Rose Ice Creamery, Santa Monica

Oh doesn't the name say it all. You can indulge in the scent of waffles and fabulous fumes of flavours from a mile away (in a really really good way) Sweet Rose is ice cream royalty in our books. Build your own classic or conventional ice cream sandwich...the best kind of sandwich.

Our top tip - try the salted caramel with extra sea salt and extra caramel, it's that good. We also recommend the butternut squash!

The Frieze Ice Cream Factory, Miami

One little shop with a lot of personality and even bigger flavours in a place with year round warm weather, where having an ice cream is always a good idea. We recommend trying the Nuttiest Buddy or the Banana Wafer sundae. Located just off the main street in Miami Beach, Florida. and well worth the evening stroll.

Top tip - add the fruit, and try samples of sorbet too! Yummm!

Cream, San Diego

The best ice cream sandwiches in SoCal, we're calling it. Have you heard us use the term 'SoCal' before, a common abbreviation for Southern California locals. This place has two homes in San Diego, both downtown and the hottest beachside locale in Pacific Beach. Cream offers a HUGE range of ice cream sandwiches, including in the form of donuts, cronuts and taco varieties filled with all your favourite filling. Feel like adding coco pops, gummy bears or cookie dough to your sandwich? There are up to 5000 combinations to choose from.

Mootime Creamery, Coronado

The authentic ice cream, hand-rolled cones and waffles made right from scratch in this little beauty in the heart of Coronado. This place does ice cream, yoghurt and sorbet better than most and is self proclaimed as 'udderly delicious' ....pun intended. Did we mention that it's located alongside one of the most prestigious and glorious beachside locations in the USA.

Top tip - try an ice cream taco with neapolitan and kit kat cookie dough. A good example where less is not more, go the whole nine yards and add it all.

The Chocolate Bar, Houston

Chocolate lovers, this one is simply for you. Located in the heart of Houston, Texas, you will find a full menu of chocolate which includes the ice cream, the dipped cookies, strawberries, mudcakes, and chocolate dipped pizza and popcorn.

When it comes to the melting varietals, our top tip is to go for the classics, with the rich chocolate indulgence in either milk or dark chocolate. All that's missing is a chocolate fountain, oh no, they have one of those too

The Bent Spoon, Philadelphia

If you feel like sampling the sensations of an ice cream that's a little different, with a little more personality, zing, tang, bite and even a few vegetables, it's time to plan a stroll through Princeton, to The Bent Spoon.

Our top tip is to try the avocado avalanche, New Jersey cantaloupe, or lavender mascarpone.

Peach Pie, Charleston

The holy grail. All you need to do is try the traditional peach pie. Amen.

Luv it, Las Vegas

Wow. A simple little shop that does big things for the palette. This place is famous for it's custard ice cream in cones, cups and even buckets. We're talking luscious custard which is similar to a rich vanilla ice cream and is done so well, it's considered a local hero, surviving for over 38 years on only word of mouth promotion. This place is filled with heart and soul.

Our top tip, add banana and chocolate to your custard with a dash of caramel.

10 Below Ice Cream, New York

Have you ever had the pleasure of tasting rose curled creamies? Well now's the time to make it happen at 10 Below, New York. The hand crafted rapid freeze techniques creates melting masterpieces and quite literally our favourite flavours in New York. It's a local hotspot (or coldspot if we're talkin' ice cream lingo)

Our top tip is the raspberry, blueberry and honey combination.
