8.30am: Flagpole and morning meeting.
Each morning you’ll meet as a whole camp. You may recite the pledge of allegiance or sing to a flag, camps come from years old traditions and flagpole is just one of them.
Get your announcements, do some fun morning stretches, celebrate birthdays and inter-camp team wins, it’s time to begin the day.
9.00am: Breakfast time.
For breakfast you will find sweet and savoury, crunchy and sloppy, toasted and chilled. There's every kind of food available and many of it will be a little strange; waffles, syrup and sausages? Dig in. Many camps will have songs, graces or breakfast chants to get the kids excited for the day ahead.
Everyone heads back to their cabin or tent after breakfast to tidy up.
If you're a cabin specialist you'll be taking your campers to their scheduled activities (often joining in) and if you're an activity specialist you'll spend the morning teaching the campers at your station.Learn more about summer camp activities
2.30pm: Activities again.
Rest hour over… back to activities.
Activity specialists will head back to their activity areas and general counselors will circulate and have fun with the campers. You might even use this time for an all camp swim.
4.00pm: Back to activities.
Snacks finished, it's back to the schedule for the last activity of the day. Normally heavy on the games, this hour is always fun and more relaxed right before the campers grab a quick shower before dinner.Learn more about summer camp activities
8.00pm: Evening activities.
Evening activities are always exciting and are an opportunity for you to spend time with everyone else on camp.
They range from themed dances, all-camp competitions, campfires, talent shows and sometimes off camp trips (bowling, lazer tag, cinema). The list goes on and on...
Bedtimes vary based on a camper's age and division. Depending on your camp's evening structure, you'll either be off until curfew or on "OD" - which stands for on duty. But after such a busy day you'll be keen for bed yourself.
Get in some rest before the madness and magic all begins again.
