What to Expect

Lower fees and higher wages. That's right, you pay less and your camp pays no agency fee, so you'll get the same wages as an American staff member.

Top Tip

Confirm your return to camp as early as possible. The earlier you confirm, the earlier you can book your flight and the earlier you book your flight the cheaper it will be.

What Not to Expect

The same as last summer. Every summer has a unique feel and no summer is exactly the same as the last.

You’ll Love

Getting back to your home from home. That feeling of planting your feet back on camp grounds is like nothing else.

For just 375 USD, counselors get:

  • DS 2019 form, which shows your eligibility for a J1 visa
  • Up to 90 days' medical insurance
  • Step-by-step guidance through your online Camp Leaders account
  • 24/7 support via our free emergency helpline, throughout your time in America

Third Party Fees Include;

  • US Embassy visa processing fee ($160 paid to embassy)
  • Medical Form - If you completed a medical form in 2016, please check with your camp to see if it is still valid for 2017
  • Police check - you must obtain a new police check dated September 2016 or later (£60)
  • Flights and US domestic transportation - You arrange and pay for this yourself as a returner, so keep this in mind when negotiating your contract with camp

Next Steps

  • Login to your Camp Leaders account.
  • Contact your camp, agree a position for the summer, negotiate your salary directly with them and ask them for a contract.

Notes:

  • Your camp will pay the $35 SEVIS fee directly to Camp Leaders. They will pay £0 placement/administration fee to Camp Leaders which means you should be paid the same as any American staff member.
  • If you are heading back to camp in a Support Staff role, the program fee is £279 (simply due to the higher cost of your DS2019 form).
