Why should I teach basketball at camp?

If you love coaching basketball, teaching and would love the opportunity to travel in the USA - then basketball summer jobs certainly tick those boxes, especially summer camp.

Camp Directors will be looking for someone with talent, passion and a want to constantly go the extra mile. If you have the focus and skill to teach each day, bringing in games and ensuring safety and fun then look no further for a basketball job in America this summer.

Basketball is a very popular and one of the most in demand roles at camp. This means we need to see your talent and drive to teach, it’s all about your basketball coaching experience. You need to tell us why you are the next Michael Jordan or Lebron James.

What does a basketball coach do?

Basketball is a firm favourite for the Americans at summer camp, campers and staff alike.

Spending your summer on the courts, in the sunshine, you can expect a diverse day as you adapt to different skill levels and keep the campers engaged through exciting games for skill development and mini tournaments. A basketball coach will be leading 5-6 activity periods alongside any extra or private lessons for individuals. From to teaching campers their alley-oops, to a game of H-O-R-S-E and huge inter-camp tournaments - it’s the slam dunk of the activities.

You should bring energy and lots of ideas for skill progression style games. There will be a multitude of skill levels from your first timers to your campers who could be in the NBA, it’s all about making each and every child feel like the MVP.

To be paid to live and breathe basketball all day was a dream come true.

I loved playing with and coaching the girls for 3 months at camp; as I was able to pass on my passion and knowledge as well as gain some new skills and knowledge myself which I then implemented back in my university studies/teams I coached at home.
