Why should I teach trapeze at camp?

Campers love trying different things and learning new skills, if you’re skilled in trapeze this is something you can pass on to the campers. You can teach them to love it and you never know, it could become a lifelong hobby for them. How great would it be to know it started with you?

What does a trapeze instructor do?

You’ll be teaching campers the art of swinging through the sky gracefully and safely. You’ll have a mix of ability level of kids so you’ll need to tailor your classes accordingly, but as long as they go away having learnt something, you’re flying (pun intended).

You can also develop your own skills throughout the summer too, meaning you’ll have more to pass onto the campers in the lessons. If you have this experience and passion to pass on to the campers, then let us know in your application, we would love to hear from you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I apply to be a trapeze instructor at summer camp?

When starting your application you’ll be asked to select your top skills. Choose trapeze. Go into detail about what you’re going to bring to the role, your skill level and if you’re already qualified. A camp director will then be able to assess if you’re a good fit and invite you to their camp.

How many children will I be coaching in one session?

Campers come down to sessions in age group divisions. These divisions can vary in skill level, but are usually made up of 10-30 campers. You’ll then be paired with an individual camper or a group, and don’t worry - you’ll be supported by your fellow specialists and counsellors.

Do I get days off?

Of course! Everyone needs time to recharge their batteries after an exciting but hectic week at camp. You'll have days off, as well as the opportunity to explore the local area and further afield. Most camps will give you a 24 hour block of free time every week, whilst some others provide 2-4 days off in a row every few weeks.

Should I pack any trapeze equipment?

Camp will be able to provide a limited amount of equipment. If you have anything you think could be fun or useful to incorporate into lessons, then feel free to bring it along. But you don't need to worry too much about packing equipment.

(Check with camp before you go that there is a safe place to store any equipment you bring as camp will not be liable if anything gets lost, damaged or stolen).

Don't miss out on your ultimate summer job.
