Camp Leaders Global Photo Contest 2026 — Terms and Conditions

The promoter

  1. The promoter is Smaller Earth Limited (company no. 03859099), whose registered office is at 17 Mann Island, Liverpool, England, L3 1BP ("Smaller Earth", "we", "us", "our"). The competition is run under the Camp Leaders brand and is referred to as the Camp Leaders Global Photo Contest 2026 (the "Competition").

Eligibility

  1. The Competition is open to anyone aged 18 years or over who attended the Camp Leaders or American Camp Co. program in the summer of 2026. Any entry from a person who did not attend one of these programs in summer 2026 will be void.
  2. The Competition excludes employees of Smaller Earth (and its associated brands), their close relatives, and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the Competition, including brand ambassadors and interviewers.
  3. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter.
  4. By entering, an entrant indicates their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

How to enter

  1. Entries are submitted via the official Camp Leaders Photo Contest entry form (hosted on Fillout), linked from the Camp Leaders website landing page, Camp Leaders email campaigns and official Camp Leaders social media accounts. No social media platform is a partner in, or an endorser of, this Competition.
  2. Each entrant may submit up to 10 images. Not completing the entry steps accurately will result in the entry being void.
  3. Although up to 10 images may be submitted, only one image per entrant may be shortlisted and progress into the national round. No entrant may be represented by more than one image in any round of the Competition.
  4. Photos must be the entrant's own work and must have been taken during the entrant's own 2026 Camp Leaders / American Camp Co. program experience (life at camp and/or travel in the USA).
  5. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

Photo requirements and content standards

  1. All submitted images must be genuine, high-quality photographs taken by the entrant. Screenshots and watermarked images will not be accepted.
  2. Content must be appropriate. Images showing alcohol, illegal or unsafe activity, offensive gestures, nudity, or any content that is unlawful, discriminatory, defamatory or otherwise objectionable will be disqualified at our sole discretion.
  3. No use of AI. Entries must be authentic photographs. Images that are generated, created, or materially altered using artificial intelligence (AI) tools — including AI image generators, AI "enhance" or generative-fill features, and any synthetic or composite imagery — are strictly prohibited and will be disqualified. Basic adjustments such as cropping, brightness and colour correction are permitted; anything that fabricates content or changes the substance of the photograph is not. We reserve the right to request the original, unedited file and/or the image metadata to verify authenticity, and to disqualify any entry we reasonably believe breaches this rule.

Photographs containing other people — permission and consent

  1. If a submitted image contains any person other than the entrant, the entrant confirms that, before submitting, they have obtained the express permission of every identifiable person in that image (or, where any such person is under 18, the permission of that person's parent or guardian).
  2. That permission must specifically cover: (a) the image being entered into the Camp Leaders Global Photo Contest; (b) the image being published and voted on publicly across Camp Leaders and Smaller Earth Group social media accounts and websites; (c) the image being used by Smaller Earth Group for future promotional and marketing purposes in accordance with clause 18 below; and (d) where the entrant (and/or any person featured in the image) was sponsored on their visa by CHI (Cultural Homestay International), the image being shared with CHI for CHI's own promotional and marketing purposes.
  3. By submitting an image, the entrant warrants that they hold this permission and accepts full responsibility for obtaining it. If any person featured in an image subsequently objects to its use, we reserve the right to remove that image from the Competition and/or from any marketing use, and to disqualify the entry. The entrant agrees to indemnify and hold Smaller Earth Group harmless against any claim, cost, damage, liability or dispute arising from the entrant's failure to obtain the necessary permissions.

Ownership and marketing usage rights

  1. You must be the lawful owner of all rights, title and interest in the submitted image(s), or otherwise have full authorisation to submit them for use. By agreeing to these terms, you confirm that your submission does not infringe upon any third-party rights. Smaller Earth Group accepts no legal responsibility or liability for any claims, damages or disputes arising from your failure to obtain the necessary permissions or ownership rights, and you agree to indemnify and hold Smaller Earth Group harmless against any such claims.
  2. By submitting your image(s), you grant Smaller Earth Group a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free and irrevocable licence to use, reproduce, modify, distribute and display your photographs across all Smaller Earth Group brands for promotional and marketing purposes, in any format or media now known or later developed. In addition, where the entrant (and/or any person featured in the image) was sponsored on their visa by CHI (Cultural Homestay International), Smaller Earth Group may share the image with CHI for CHI's own promotional and marketing purposes.
  3. The winners agree to the use of their name, image and entry in any publicity material.

How the Competition works and judging

  1. The Competition runs across two public voting rounds — a National Round followed by a Global Round.
  2. Shortlisting. After submissions close, all entries are grouped into pots by country. Some smaller regions are combined into a single pot (for example: Rest of the World and South Africa; Rest of Europe and Germany; Brazil and Rest of South America; and Czechia and Slovakia). Larger regions (for example the United Kingdom and Ireland) run as single pots.
  3. An internal panel of self-nominated representatives from each country office shortlists the top 10 images from that country's pot. Each of the 10 shortlisted images must feature a different individual — a panel may not select more than one image from the same person.
  4. National Round. The 10 shortlisted images for each country are published as numbered posts (1–10) on the relevant Camp Leaders / Smaller Earth Instagram account. The public votes by commenting the number of their favourite image. The image with the most valid votes in each country wins that national round.
  5. Global Round. The winning image from each national round progresses into the Global Round, which runs on the same public-vote basis. The image with the most valid public votes is awarded 1st Place, and the image with the second most valid public votes is awarded Runner Up.
  6. CHI Choice Award. Separately from the public vote, a CHI Choice Award is selected by CHI (Cultural Homestay International). CHI is given access to all national-winner images that progress into the Global Round (and by progressing to the Global Round, an entrant agrees to their image being shared with CHI for the purpose of judging this award). CHI submits a ranked selection of three images; the CHI Choice Award is given to CHI's highest-ranked selection that has not already won 1st Place or Runner Up. If one of CHI's higher-ranked picks has already won a public-vote prize, the next eligible image in CHI's ranking receives the award.
  7. Voting integrity. Only one vote per account will be counted. Votes generated by bots, scripts or automated methods, by duplicate or fake accounts, by vote-buying, or by any other form of manipulation will be discounted, and any entrant found to be engaging in or benefitting from such activity may be disqualified. We actively monitor for and act on suspicious engagement.
  8. The promoter's decision in respect of all matters to do with the Competition — including shortlisting, the validity of votes, the selection of winners, and CHI's selection of the CHI Choice Award — will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

  2. The prizes are as stated and no cash or other alternative will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice. Prizes provided by third parties are subject to those third parties' terms, and we cannot accept responsibility or liability for any changes made to them by the relevant providers. 3. The 1st place prize does not include any airport departure or government taxes, spending money, airport transfers, travel insurance or any other expenses; these must all be paid by the prize winner. It is the responsibility of the prize winner to ensure their ability to use the prize, including holding a valid passport and any required visa and meeting any airline or other third-party requirements.

Winner notification and prize fulfilment

  1. The winners will be notified by email and/or by DM on Instagram within 14 days of the winners being announced. We may ask a winner to verify their identity and eligibility (for example, proof of 2026 program participation) before a prize is released. If a winner cannot be contacted, does not respond, or does not claim their prize within 7 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize and select a replacement winner.
  2. The winner's name will be available 28 days after the closing date by emailing marketing@campleaders.com.
  3. The promoter will liaise with the winners on how each prize will be distributed upon claim. Once distributed, the promoter claims no responsibility for any changes or alterations made by third parties. Any required dates in relation to a prize should be agreed with the promoter.

Data protection

  1. Any personal data relating to entrants or winners will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and our Privacy Policy, and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant's prior consent, save as necessary to run the Competition and fulfil prizes.

General and liability

  1. Smaller Earth Limited shall have the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to change or modify these terms and conditions, such change being effective immediately upon posting to this webpage.
  2. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God, or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation, or any other event outside of the promoter's control. Any changes to the Competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
  3. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this Competition.
  4. We will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered by any prize winner that arises out of their failure to arrive at any destination or return home from any destination, nor will we have any obligation to substitute an alternative prize, cash equivalent or other compensation where a prize winner is unable to travel or fails to redeem a prize for any reason.
  5. Entries made through the use of bots, scripts, or any automated methods are strictly prohibited and will be disqualified.
  6. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Facebook, Meta, any other social network, any airline or other business (other than CHI in its capacity as awards sponsor). You are providing your information to Smaller Earth Limited and its associated brands, and not to any other party. The information provided will be used in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.
  7. A failure by us to enforce any one of these terms and conditions in any instance(s) will not give rise to any claim or right of action by any entrant or prize winner, nor shall it be deemed to be a waiver of any of our rights in relation to the same.
  8. Except as specifically set out herein and to the maximum extent permitted by law, all conditions, warranties and representations expressed or implied by law are hereby excluded.
  9. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we hereby exclude and shall not have any liability to any entrant or prize winner in connection with the Competition howsoever caused, including for any costs, expenses, forfeited prizes, damages and other liabilities, provided that nothing herein shall operate so as to limit or exclude our liability for personal injury or death caused by our negligence.
  10. In the event that any provision of these terms is held to be illegal, invalid, void or otherwise unenforceable, it shall be severed from the remaining provisions, which shall continue in full force and effect.
  11. The Competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
