Watersports Instructor Jobs in America

Do you love being out on the water? Have you got a water-based hobby or skill? Then a waterfront job in America may be perfect for you.

Summer camps across the United States are looking for those passionate about being out on the water.

Whether you've worked the cables at a wakeboard role, you're a dab hand at sailing, or you're a keen swimmer with a lifeguard qualification, we can find a role for you in the U.S.

Why should I work a watersports role at camp?

Watersports roles require a previous level of experience and knowledge. Whether your background is in lifeguarding, swimming, sailing, wakeboarding, or whatever else, it would've taken some time to build up such skills in a particular niche.

As such, camps love to hire people like you. You don't need to of taught before; camps can help with that. They want to help utilise your passion and experience to help a new generation of kids take up your chosen hobby in a fun, yet safe, manner.

What does a waterfront instructor do?

Waterfront instructor roles can vary, as does the day for each.

For the majority, it involves working as part of a wider waterfront team, who will have a set department to look after. This includes setting up and packing down each day.

You'll then have rotations of campers come down to experience your chosen activity, so the team will be responsible for getting them ready, any safety briefing, as well as then leading them through the actual activity.

This means that powerboat drivers will be out on the boats (rotating with a spotter), sailing instructors will be the lead when it comes to taking a very small group out, or swimming coaches will be workly closely from the side.

"Working on the water-ski team was incredible. I enjoyed wakeboarding before going to camp, and I had my RYA Level 2 Powerboating qualification, but had never worked as part of an actual waterfront team before. It ended up being one of the best jobs I ever had, and to this day it still feels wild I got paid to drive boats and teach wakeboarding for a summer in America."
