Your not so typical day.

A day at summer camp

We're very proud and excited that we're partnered with hundreds and hundreds of American Summer Camps.

Each camp is unique and always a little different to the others, so we've put together a general guide to a 'typical' day at camp for you to get a general idea.

Timetable style.

8am
10pm

8.00am

Rise and shine.

Everyone knows about camp wake up, from the shrill tooting of the bugle to the firing of an actual cannon, it’s time to get up, shake off that sleep and get going.

8.30am

Flagpole and morning meeting.

Each morning you’ll meet as a whole camp. You may recite the pledge of allegiance or sing to a flag, camps come from years old traditions and flagpole is just one of them.
Get your announcements, do some fun morning stretches, celebrate birthdays and inter-camp team wins, it’s time to begin the day.

9.00am

Breakfast time.

For breakfast you will find sweet and savoury, crunchy and sloppy, toasted and chilled. There's every kind of food available and many of it will be a little strange; waffles, syrup and sausages? Dig in. Many camps will have songs, graces or breakfast chants to get the kids excited for the day ahead.
Everyone heads back to their cabin or tent after breakfast to tidy up.

10.00am

Activities

If you're a cabin specialist you'll be taking your campers to their scheduled activities (often joining in) and if you're an activity specialist you'll spend the morning teaching the campers at your station.

12.30pm

Lunch is served.

From Tacos to the notorious grilled cheese, everyone loves the lunch menu - campers will spend the whole morning guessing what it might be. Often with a salad bar, and a pasta back up, there's an option for every eater.

1.30pm

Rest hour.

Rest hour is the greatest idea at camp. The combination of an early start, the heat and the belly full of food means that this hour, just to chill, is always appreciated. The campers will use this time to play cards, lay under their fans and catch up with their friends.

2.30pm

Activities again.

Rest hour over… back to activities.
Activity specialists will head back to their activity areas and general counselors will circulate and have fun with the campers. You might even use this time for an all camp swim.

3.30pm

Milk and cookies.

Snack time - does what says on the tin.
From milk and cookies, to chips and dips - all snacks are always happily received.

4.00pm

Back to activities.

Snacks finished, it's back to the schedule for the last activity of the day. Normally heavy on the games, this hour is always fun and more relaxed right before the campers grab a quick shower before dinner.

6.00pm

It's dinner time.

Did someone say it’s BBQ tonight?
The last big meal of the day could be anything. Fried chicken and gravy, slow cooked brisket to a thanksgiving special - brace yourself for a true American experience.

8.00pm

Evening activities.

Evening activities are always exciting and are an opportunity for you to spend time with everyone else on camp.
They range from themed dances, all-camp competitions, campfires, talent shows and sometimes off camp trips (bowling, lazer tag, cinema). The list goes on and on...

10.00pm

Bedtime.

Bedtimes vary based on a camper's age and division. Depending on your camp's evening structure, you'll either be off until curfew or on "OD" - which stands for on duty. But after such a busy day you'll be keen for bed yourself.

Get in some rest before the madness and magic all begins again.
