Passion, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are what Camp Directors look for in all of their outdoor education instructors. Make sure that your application provides practical examples that demonstrate all of these qualities.

What does an outdoor education instructor do?

From facilitating the climbing wall to leading mountain bike expeditions, belaying campers on the high ropes course to sending them down the zip line. Outdoor education instructors do it all.

Being in the great outdoors is popular amongst campers and staff at summer camp.

Become an outdoor education instructor to help people reach new heights.

I spent my first summer at camp as an outdoor education instructor. I had no previous qualifications, just a passion for the outdoors and a willingness to try something new. When I arrived at camp I completed a 4 day program-specific training course to prepare me for the summer ahead.

As an outdoor education instructor, I had the opportunity to teach a variety of fun activities. From high/low ropes, to mountain biking and extreme zip lines, I did it all! I spent my summer in the trees helping campers conquer their fear of heights, explore new activities and push themselves out of their comfort zone.
